Bio: 

Oscar Grusky, Ph.D. is a Professor of Sociology, Director of the NIMH-supported AIDS Research Training Program, and Senior Scientist in the Center for HIV Identification, Prevention, and Treatment Services. Dr. Grusky received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research interests include HIV/AIDS prevention in the U.S. and China and the organization of mental health and HIV/AIDS service systems.

Dr. Grusky is an internationally-known organization theorist who has an extensive publication record on organizational behavior and has studied prisons, large business organizations, sports organizations, military organizations, educational organizations, experimentally-created organizations, and medical organizations. He has published numerous studies on organizational and inter-organizational factors in community mental health treatment systems and HIV clinics. He is currently Principal Investigator of "Organizational factors in the early detection of HIV" (R01-MH62709). Dr. Grusky has served as Chair of the UCLA Department of Sociology and consultant to the National Academy of Sciences and other agencies.

Dr. Grusky's research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, The National Institute of Mental Health, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
